Church in the third millennium”

What’s HECoS?
The Higher Education Coalition on Synodality
When Pope Francis first convened the Synod on Synodality in 2021, he placed a strong emphasis on the inclusion of people whose voices are not regularly heard in the Church: the poor, immigrants, women, and young adults. In response to the Holy Father’s desire that we become a more listening Church, the synod in its consultative sessions employed a process called “Conversations in the Spirit,” that allows for all participants to speak and to be heard.
The Higher Education Coalition on Synodality was formed to extend these synodal conversations to the communities of higher education in the US. Formed under the auspices US Conference of Catholic Bishops Secretariat for Higher Education, we are educators, campus ministers, and staff persons committed to developing a more synodal Church that can flourish in the context of our colleges and universities.
